The Arts of Stone Carving

Stone carving has tradition in Bali for probably thousands of years.

You can find stone carving not only in temples and palaces of kings, but also in the houses of the average Balinese. Houses are often richly decorated with reliefs and everywhere you see stone statues, fountains and bowls and even simple flower pots are often decorated with ebalorated stone carving.

Today the master of this art are not only keeping up the traditions but also develop new designs to match modern style and furnishing. The delicate light surface of lime stone match modern materials like crome and leather equally well as the rough gray natural stones.

All stones are extremly durable and can be used indoor and out door. They are lighter than marble or granite, which make not only carving but shipping easier.
